Bilgilendirme Crusader Kings II
    #1

    Crusader Kings II

Crusader Kings II combines character-based politicking and medieval strategy gaming to thrust backroom underhanded political dealings to the forefront of the strategy genre. From the seeds of feudalism in 1066, you must forge an empire and assure the survival of your dynasty through 400 years of medieval history.

Like many Paradox Interactive historically-based strategy games, Crusader Kings II puts you in charge of ruling a country, from making laws to diplomacy to military conquest.  Crusader Kings II spans the years from 1066AD to 1420AD, which gives you 400 game years to acquire the prestige, military, and political power necessary to assure your royal legacy and possibly even claim the title of Holy Roman Emperor.

It’s good to be da’ king

But in Crusader Kings II aren’t just a faceless, nebulous ruler clicking buttons, establish taxes, and waging wars. You actually play a specific character, and you must manage your relationships with your family and your Vassals (the nobles underneath you in the feudal food chain) to ensure a line of succession with strong political and military support.

And when your character dies (naturally or otherwise), you assume control of whichever character is next in your line succession—be it spouse, child, or Chihuahua.

Succession is ultimately determined by you and your policies, and Crusader Kings II may be one of the few (if not the first) games in which you can get assassinated by your ambitious jackass of a son, only to assume the role of and continue playing as that same ambitious jackass.

Grease the wheels of the political machine

In Crusader Kings II, backroom intrigue and underhanded dirty dealing both play a big role in the game. Maintaining and growing support amongst your vassals is vital to gaining prestige and power. Handing out promotions (bribes) to loyal supporters may earn the ire of some of your other vassals, who may view you very negatively and even conspire against you.

Similarly, the laws and policies you dictate can earn favor or disfavor amongst your vassals depending on their own personalities. And one area this can be reflected is in the amount of military support they offer you. A strong supporter might swell your ranks with swarthy knights, whereas a Vassal that dislikes you may send little three drummers and an angry mule when you call for arms.

Fortunately, your trusty spymaster can help keep you informed as to what is going on in the ranks of your vassals, and whether or not anyone might be inclined to arrange for you to have an unfortunate "accident".

    Keep your kids in line

Your family is your vehicle of succession, so you need to ensure your throne is passed down to your heir. Choosing an heir and the doctrine for succession will probably earn the support of some vassals while potentially earning the ire of others. For example, if you designate your daughter as the heir apparent, some less-than-progressive vassals might take a dim view of your actions and their support for you will wither.

In addition to your vassals, you need to manage your relationship with that pesky, pivotal and powerful Pope—a person very influential during your reign. You can potentially choose to make nice with the Pope, or toss him (and his funny hat) out on his butt and establish your own Pope (i.e. someone loyal to you).

Of course, that may not go over so well with some of your subjects or your vassals. Some might support your decision. Others may revolt.

    Forge a dynasty

Like other Paradox historical strategy games, your goals are ultimately whatever you make them to be, and the game will include multiple scenarios to facilitate this. For example, you can start a game where you’re already in power as the King and dealing with the Pope as well as invading Mongols and other headaches. Or you can start a game as a humble count with his sights set upon becoming the Holy Roman Emperor.

No matter what path you choose to achieve power, Crusader Kings II promises to keep you on your toes.

Crusader Kings II is scheduled to be released in Q1 2012 for the PC at an MSRP of $39.99.
